bose acura : Premium systems are usually 6 speakers (4 really, they count the componentsas 2 each) and no subwoofer, with the exception of some newers cars like theRSX's which has a 6" in the spare tire compartment. They often change theirwiring, so it's harder to tamper with and don't always use 4ohm speakers.thanks for the info. You're right stephen, they use 2ohm speakers. If thechanger is good which i imagine it is, how much do you think an adapterwould be to make it work with a different HU, say Alpine or JVC?i listened to one the other day when i test drove a 91 legend, the 6x9'spound pretty good and the quality of the front speakers is damn good, sitting in the rear it doesn't sound quite as nice tho.I think if i buy this car i'll stick with the stock system for a while. The adapters typically run $60Us for Nissan Bose systems. Check if youreally need one first thoughOn Sun, 22 Sep 2002 22:40:20 GMT, "Jack Smith" wrote:Stephen "Canuck" Narayan Audio Perfection | My system: Denon | Orion | PG ZPA | Dynaudio | Illusion Audio
bose acura : The right front speaker on my 1990 Legend LS made a cracking noise the otherdays followed by smoke and the smell of burnt electronics. As a result thesound system became completely silent. I have tracked down the problem to ablown out transistor ( ST BU931) of the unit's amplifier (Bose) thatconsequently short circuited the speaker (Bose 108515 K) or vice versa. I havefound a place to get the parts needed and a place to have the speaker repaired. The whole unit which consists of the speaker, the amplifier and the plasticcasing goes for around $400 from the dealer. The high price of the unit forcedme down the path of getting it repaired.Even after I disconnected the bad unit's connector, the rest of the sound systemremains silent. Is there a safety switch that needs to be reset on these audiosystems to get it back to work? The other question I have is that would the repaired speaker ever sound the sameas before? The bose system is a PWM amp which drives a low impedance speaker manypeople think they are shorted the first time 0.45 ohm to 1.45 ohm is normalin nissan most are .45 ohm.most likly a fuse is open however I doubt if the part you said is the onlyproblem usually blown parts are the symptoms not the cause. there are otheroptions.JEFFA B Sadigh wrote in message... bose acura : My dad is thinking of getting one of these. We took it for a nicelittle boot. Very quiet yet strong engine.P.S. Please e-mail as well as respond to group as my dad does not knowhow to access news groups.I leased a '98 3.0 CL about two months ago. It is a great car! I gets around 30mpg on the hwy and 22-25 around town. It has a great ride, too. I live in NWFlorida, and travel to B'ham, Alabama on many occassions. This car really makesthe trip bearable. When I get to my destination, I'm well rested. We leased a3.2 TL for my wife about two-three weeks before we got my CL, and it convincedme to get the CL. Your dad will be very happy with it!I leased a 98 CL 3.0 Premium a little over a month ago, and I enjoyit.I looked at the new Honda Accords - they are nice, same engine, niceinterior, a little larger inside, etc.I chose the Acura for a number of reasons. One of them was that the V6Hondas were not plentiful. One dealer only had two (sedans) EX-V6cars, only one of which was of a color I could tolerate, and it hadbeen the "test drive" car and was at about 200 miles already. Andcoupes were even shorter in supply. bose acura : Recently purchased new Acura RSX/S with Bose combo radio, CD andCassette. System has twin amps with one mounted in a sealed enclosurelocated within the spare tire and dedicated to power the sub woofer.Bose calls the system its "Rich Bass" system. I call it a NO basssystem.Called Bose and they say the sub's amp is 100w class 'D' in turn runninga 6" sub in a tuned box. I maintain the system 'must' be defective giventhe horrific lack of bottom end. Took the car back to the dealer butAcura maintains that's the systems' inherent sound quality. Was curious if anyone else has this system and if so are they alsohaving any problems with a lack of bottom end. If so, any cures?I've tried to get technical info from Bose but thus far it's a no/go.I know this kid from school who has an Acura. U can check out his website,he may have an email address(can't remember) Yes... It is defective. Check the Acura newsgroup for more info... Theyhave been having problems with it and Acura might fix it... much more... golook bose acura : I have a channel amp bad in a Bose Power Amp in my 92 Acura Legend. I haveattempted to find a replacement transistor to repair it without success. Evidently these are custom components made by SGS Thompson for Bose. Bosedoes not sell replacement parts (even the replaceable sub components of theAmp), but will gladly replace all the inner works for about $200. Ifanyone has a Bose amp that will fit the 92 Legend please E-mail me. Itdoes not have to be a working amp, I can probably salvage the parts to fixmine from a blown unit.I have posted the following on several electronic news groups with nosuccess. If anyone in this honda group has any resources please let meknow.Help, I have exhausted all local (and most internet) sources trying to finda replacement transistor for a Bose Channel Amp out of a 92 Acura Legend. The markings on the transistor are: ST Manufacturer Symbol (SGS Thompson???) 137110. Also in smaller print is 99118. There are 3 othertransistors on the circuit board, all with 137110 part number, but one has99118 and the other two have 99114 in small print. Bose will not supplythe part, but will gladly replace the entire inner works for about $175. I'm sure Acura will want $200 to $300 to replace the amp.
