infiniti accessories : WASHINGTON, May 16 (Reuter) - Following is a text of thestatement made on Tuesday by U.S. Trade Representative MickeyKantor in announcing $5.9 billion in punitive tariffs against13 Japanese luxury car models. Kantor spoke to reporters at 10a.m. EDT (1400 GMT). (750 words) Last Wednesday we announced President Clinton's decisionresponding to the continuing discrimination against U.S. andforeign competitive autos and auto parts in Japan.Specifically we delivered a prefiling notification to WTODirector General Ruggiero indicating our intent to invoke thedispute settlemewnt mechanism of the World Trade Organisation.This notification indicates our intent to challenge thecontinuing discrimination against United States autos and autoparts in Japan. I also announced the U.S. finding ofunfairness under Sections 301 and 304 of the Trade Actregarding Japanese policies and practices which deny U.S. autoparts suppliers access to the auto parts replacement andaccessories market in Japan. Today I'm announcing the proposed sanctions list in theSection 301 case regarding barriers in the Japaneseaftermarket for replacement auto parts and automotiveaccessories. This follows the May 10th unfairnessdetermination that acts, practices and policies of thegovernment of Japan with respect to the aftermarket areunreasonable and burden and restrict United States commerce. The list consists of imports of Japanese luxury cars whichwould be subject to duties of 100 percent. The imports ofvehicles on the list in 1994 were valued at approximately $5.9billion at entry, not at retail value. The 13 luxury models on the list are as follows: the AcuraLegend, the Acura 3.2 TL, the Lexus LS-400, the Lexus SC-400,the Lexus SC-300, the Lexus GS-300, the Lexus ES-300, theInfiniti Q-45, the Infiniti J-30, the Infiniti I-30, which isa new model, the Mazda 929, the Mazda Millenia, and theMitsubishi Diamante. None of these cars is made in the UnitedStates. None of these cars have any significant content ofU.S. or other foreign competitive parts. In accordance with the requirements of Section 301, wewill seek public comment and hold a public hearing on June 8and 9 on this proposed action. The final determination will bemade on June 28, 1995. If I'm not mistaken, the lastsubmissions will close out or we'll close out accepting thelast submissions on the 20th of June. Somebody correct me --Ira, is that correct? Because thelist contains a narrow range of products, we do not expect atthis juncture that the final list would be alteredsignificantly. However, we will carefully consider and fairlyevaluate any and all information provided in this process inreaching a final determination. For 20 months the UnitedStates has tried to negotiate a strong and meaningfulmarket-opening agreement with Japan. Despite our efforts thenegotiations did not produce an agreement. Indeed, whendiscussions concluded on May five in Canada, the United Statesand Japan were far apart in each -- each -- of the criticalareas of negotiations. Our market is open to Japanese products. Their marketshould be open to our products. It is a fundamental questionof fairness. We recognise today's announcement represents strongaction, but we believe it is necessary to open the Japaneseautomotive market, and redress the significant imbalancebetween two automotive markets, and a continuing Japanesediscrimination against the automotive products of all foreigncompetitors. The gap between one automotive market that is open, andone automotive market that is closed has existed for 35 years.This imbalance has benefitted Japanese manufacturers at theexpense of American workers and Americans companies. This mustend. We welcome the statements of the U.S. auto companies thatthey intend not to take advantage of this situation at theexpense of American consumers. We need to ensure that we worktogether to protect American consumers as we address the issueof U.S. competitiveness in this automotive market and creatinghigh-wage, high-skill jobs here at home. For 20 months this administration has sought to negotiatean agreement which would open the Japanese auto market and enddiscriminatory practices, but this problem has persisted fordecades and must finally be successfully resolved. We willcontinue to seek meaningful and strong agreements, and we willcontinue to work for these agreements in the future.

infiniti accessories : he said the best that he's driven. my guess is that he's probably notdriven the corrado. i have driven the g60 corrado, the vr6 corrado andthe g20, but not on the same stretches of road and at different times,so while i'd like to, i cannot really compare them side by side.anyway, here are my lasting impressions of these cars:the g20 is in a way the most impressive, because it has the best ridequality of the 3 and still handles supremely well. i was moreimpressed by the ride quality *given* the excellent handling than thehandling per se.the g60 corrado is my favorite in terms of all-out handling. it goesinto tight bends like a go-kart.. no roll, no slide. i say it wouldgive the mid-engined cars something to think about. it is totallycomposed coming out with a heavy dose of throttle.. i have so far beenunable to even come close to its limits on a dry road. it is lessheavy up front than the vr6 and the suspension overall is firmer. itcrashes occasionally into bumps but the ride is still acceptable in myjudgement.i think that the vr6 (i hate that stupid "SLC" name.. a US marketspecial.. ugh!) corrado falls in between these two. just a littlesofter than the g60 but rides better. my guess is that it willouthandle the g20 but not ride as well.
