I mean, come on, FOUR four doors? I just traded my '92 M30 Convert for an Audi Cabriolet, when I really wanted the next convertible from Infiniti. They don't even have a coupe. and talk is the next thing is a sport-ute a la Pathfinder. Wake up boys.Audi and Saab have both added ragtops to their line in the last 2 years. Porsche and BMW and Mercedes are adding 'verts soon. I loved my M30. Whew, I feel better. Sorry.Has anybody test driven/bought one yet? infiniti fog lights : The following is a brief review of the cars I am considering:MAZDA MILLENIA: I was considering the model without the Miller engine.Nice car. Test drove it. Smooth acceleration and attractive dashboard. My problem with it is the backseat. Not that roomy. Plus, when you look atthe car, it doesn't look that luxurious. Maxda is not your typical luxurycar dealer. They sell everything from 323's to sports cars to trucks. WhenI am paying $30,000 for a car, I want to get it from a luxury car dealerlike BMW, Infiniti or Lexus.BMW 325i: Reports in Consumer Reports and Car & Driver as one of the bestcars they driven. I am sure it is, but do you ever look at the backseat. Ihave been in a 325i at the 1995 Philadelphia Auto Show and the problem Ihave is with the interior. It looks clustered and crowded and very"plastic." I don't get a luxurious feeling from sitting in the car. BMW325i is probably most definitely a high performance car but not a luxurycar. It's not the car for me - Maybe 5 years ago but not now.ACURA TL 2.5: I have 3 words for this car. Souped-up Honda Accord. Thatis what the engine felt like when I test drove it. The acceleration wasn'tsmooth. I didn't like the car as soon as I stepped on the gas.
infiniti fog lights : INFINITI I30: Now this is THE car. The leather and wood trim is excellent(compared to Lexus ES300). The acceleration excellent and hardly anyinterior noise from the outside. Of course, I wasn't going 65 m.p.h. but Iam sure it will quite good. The interior is very spacious. Actually, theinterior space is bigger than the Q45. This is the car for me. TheInfiniti I30 is actually a luxurious Nissian Maxima, but hey Maxima's anice car. A souped-up Maxima will run you $27,000 and the leather packageI30 will probably go for $29,000. I plan on getting a car report fromConsumer Reports that lists the invoice price for the I30. (ConsumerReports Car Reports: 914-378-2770 9:15 am to 5:00 pm EST). There is onething about the I30 that I will have to learn to like and that is theback of the car. It's not as cute as the J30. Acutally, it looks like theMaxima's rear blown up a bit. Overall, I love the car.QUESTION: What do you think is reasonable mark-up from invoice for aluxury car like the I30? $500? $1000? I think there is about $4-5000mark-up from the invoice to list price.
infiniti fog lights : LEXUS ES300: I looked at this car. I didn't test drive it though. I amsure the drive is good. What I didn't like about this car was the leathertrim and trunk. The leather trim looked like the one in my Mazda MX-6.Wasn't that good. In addition, the trunk lid was high. When you are tryingto put something in the trunk, you have to lift it above the brake lights.Just look at the I30. The brake lights in the middle of the back are partof the trunk lid.<snip>I really hope that Infiniti gives the service everyone says they do.I considered a G20, but the local dealer was such an ass, I couldn'tstand to do business with them. They are in an upscale (Marin Co., CA)area, so I guess that's why they were so pretentious. I tend to dresscasually, and they all wear ties, so I think they thought I was not goodenough to enter their showroom. I called three days early to schedulea test drive (they are 40 miles from me), and called just before leavingmy house to re-comfirm. When I got there, they did not have a car for meto drive!
infiniti fog lights : This was during one of their "sales" on the car. The salesman told me thatthe sale was ending at the end of the month -- in a couple of days. Iwent about my way, and just four days before the end of the next month,he called to tell me that Infiniti had extended their "sale" anothermonth, and that this time they had plenty of cars. I scheduled anotherattempt at a test drive, and the salesman kept me waiting for 1/2 hourbefore actually starting. (The car we were to drive was right therein front of me.) When we finally did get on the road, the salesmankept going on about all the "luxury" features of the car. I was tryingto get a good feel for how it *drives*. He insisted on turning on theradio, etc., etc.I wrote down what I was willing to pay for the car, let him makea copy of it (it was a low price), and told him to call me the nextday if he could sell it for that. Meanwhile, I decided that I reallydid not want to be at the mercy of this dealer, so I bought anotherbrand of car that afternoon. When I called to tell the saleman so hewould not have to be concerned about me the next day, he made someextremely rude remarks about the other brand of car. I am very happythat I decided not to do business with these people.
