Lexi are veryquietly satisfying to drive, built better than any other brand car on theplanet, and cheaper than the German brands, but they are not fun to drive inthe way that cars like BMW's and Porsches are. Thy don't put a smile on yourface. They don't make you eager to take that drive home. That is the onething missing and I don't really see Toyota making any attempt to fix theproblem. I think the GS lookssportier than the BMW 5 and the previous Merc E (the new E is pretty nice...Ithink it takes it now..but heck, we're talking about a design that's been outsince 1998 in the GS). And the IS, well I think it's a toss up there with thebeemer 3 and the Merc C. And the SC430?? I think that's got more style than aheck of a lot of other cars out there.

And ifI am willing to pay the extra $0.05US per mile for the MB, which will lastlonger?Certainly safety is a concern, but how many of these fine cars do you expectto crash? :)You only need to be in one crash to believe that safety is more important thananything else about the car.realistically, i don't think that a comperable weight lexus vs. amercedes or bmw is going to make much difference in terms of safety. all have plenty of front and side airbags, are all very sound vericles. with seatbelts on, passengers are probably more or less as safe in eachcar. rest assured that by choosing such a vehicle your passengers are assafe as possible, and focus your attention on which car is leastexpensive to repair after the accident. that aside, my own anecdotalevidence is that bmw's tend to have a great safety reputation, but Ifeel just as safe in my gs400 as i would in a 5 or 7 series.
