I truly did not know it was possible todesign a car that repulsive, let alone sell it. And, the subaru isn'tthat much more money, and it's (probably) more reliable...we all know thatGM still suffers from less than ideal reliabilty. You get AWD, if youlike snow like me, that's a very good thing.

subaru australia : The GT Wagon is a possibility if we go for a vehicle in stock. If we haveto order, it would be the OB. Handling is probably not a top priority. Normally, we'd opt not to pay extra for a Sunroof (or 2), but in this casethe price is pretty close. I think the GT loses the child seat, theheated seats and wiper de-icer. All features we'd like, though none arerequirements. Any other notable differences between GT and OB Wagons?Does the GT lose the cheesy (IMO) plasti-wood trim present in the Outbackand LW2? Is the sport suspension much harsher or noisier than theOutback? The other Legacy models are less interesting to us based onavailable features and styling.I guess I should have been more specific with such a loaded question. Iknow how they function, I was more interested in how they actually performin modest snowfalls (<8") compared to TC, especially in flatareas like N. Illinois. Unfortunately, this isn't something we'll be ableto find out in a test drive. For the same price and [better] fueleconomy, I still consider AWD a fairly big advantage for the OB.Nope, not vital. Obviously, the LW2 doesn't have one. It is a bonus,though. I might consider losing the center headrest a bonus, dependingon how it affects visibility...
subaru australia : Thanks for the reply, and also for the great website which has been a bighelp in the last couple months. Also thanks to everyone else who hasresponded. It will be interesting to see if the 2000 OB has addressedsome of the complaints I see about earlier models.There are less differences in the new models between the GT and the Outback thanthere were in the outgoing designs. The interiors are nearly identical (samefake wood trim, which personally I like), but the GT gets more luxo comfortslike the sunroof while the Outback has the cargo area liner and extra poweroutlet (for example). The cold-weather package is optional on the GT as well,so you don't lose the heated seats. You also don't lose the LSD rear diff, even ifuyou don't opt for the CWP - it's standard on the GT, and part of the CWP for non-LTD Outbacks. The child seat is not an option on the GT, though.As someone else pointed out, fuel economy may be less than rated with theSubaru, though the newer engine (SOHC) seems to be much better in this regard.
subaru australia : This month's Automobile Magazine (Sept, I think) has a small writeup on theSaturn L's. They consider them fine cars, but wonder if that's enough to make them worth buying. Subaru makes great cars, but their dealer support is spotty - some of us have great experiences,and some of us have totally awful ones, that tend to follow salesarea and dealership (northern and central Subaru dealers are nicerthan southern and western, for example). Of course, since neither car should see the inside of a dealer forquite a while, this may be less important than I make it out to be.[RICHR]I think you should qualify your statement here old friend.
