Lovell and Turvey are the first ever SCCAProRally Overall winners at the Pikes Peak, and become the first Britishcitizens to secure a class win at the famed "race to the clouds." Subaruteammates Ramana Lagemann and Michael Kidd delighted fans with a nearlyperfect drive to the 14,110-ft. summit, posting a time of 12 minutes,23.98 seconds.In their first appearance at Pikes Peak, Lovell and Turvey charted toptimes throughout practice, working with team engineers on engine mappingcharacteristics to overcome power loss at higher altitudes. Lovell andTurvey were the first Open class competitors to tackle the course onrace day, setting a blistering pace that would never be challenged. Kiddquickly emerged from the car, enlisting the aid of Subaru Team personneland photographers to hold onto the rear of the car until a course safetyvehicle arrived. However, the duo returned to competitive form on raceday, benefiting from a softer suspension setup and some expert advicefrom veteran Peak competitor, Robby Unser. Lagemann and Kidd finishedfourth overall in Open Class, just .08 of a second behind the MitsubishiLancer of Lauchlin O'Sullivan and Matt Chester."I had to alter my driving style to suit the unique nature of thecourse. Weather conditions were miserable fromthe outset and continuous rain made driving conditions on the twistymountain roads treacherous.Subaru driver, Toshi Arai once again took control and put in a faultlessperformance to charge through the day's stages and claim his secondconsecutive overall victory.
