subaru wallpaper : I lived in Montana in the '60s. Many people had installed a light in thecenter of their grill. They would turn it on when they were traveling onthe highways. IT WAS THEIR CHOICE! You could appreciate it, as I did, forI could see a white shimmer dancing in the distance. Normally it wasdifficult to see a car in the distance because of the shimmer on thehighways due to the heating effect of the sun just as described above.Then it behoved you to get back into your lane and stop straddling the twolane highway. As the population density of Montana was 0.5 people persquare mile, there usually were no "packs of cars."BTW, there was no speed limit on the highways in those days and manypeople straddled the center lane as they sped along. I even knew a fellowwho got a ticket for speeding at 160 in his Jag. Why, because he was inthe vicinity of an airport and the general rule applied. In this case,there would be cars entering and exiting the airport and therefore thatspeed was excessive.But, who needs light glaring at you in the daytime in city traffic.Alertness pays off more than some light. Pretty soon all of these measuresbecome part of the "wallpaper." You don't "see" them because they are partof the "wallpaper."
subaru wallpaper : The snow is piling up here in Reisterstown, Maryland. Predictions started with as little as 2"-4"-- now the forecasters are saying we could get more than 30". Woohoooo. As of right now we have between 15" and 18" on the ground and I think that is as much as my WRX can handle. I tried to drive through some of the deep stuff in front of my house-- I did not get too far. Ended up pulling the Subie out with my Chevy. subaru wallpaper : Yeah, it is quite a dump and we are only half way through.(Insert Stevesmiling here) Looks like we are going to get 3 feet when it is all said anddone.(Insert Steve drooling here.) Driving in the snow is one my favoritethings to do. However, it looks like I will have break out the Chevy truck--I just came back in (after having pulled the soobie out the one time.) andgetting back to my house was all my Soobie could do. As for the kids and asnow day-- mine are out of luck, we home school. They are kind-of snowed inat school.Channel 13 is now reporting this may be the largest snow fall ever inMaryland.According to the news, Berkeley Springs, WV got 37". My daughter, who'sin Harrisonburg, VA looks like they got over 2'. We're closer intoWashington, and I'd say we easily got 18", maybe 2' (see my post aboutmy Outback ABS problem). We dug our driveway out both yesterday ANDtoday, and believe me, it was quite a chore (thank goodness one of mysons' friends was staying over this weekend, we sure needed the extrapair of hands!).

Goto I put up a couple of pics.I could get my VW Golf through powder up to it's bumper, about 15 inches (withHakkapelitta 10's).We got a lot of the same snow here in the Philly area... about twofeet, more in the drifts. Our OBW pretty much sat in the drivewayduring the storm, and I used my 1991 Isuzu Trooper (with tire chains)to get around. However, the Subie did do pretty good on our unplowedback streets, once some other cars (trucks?) had broken the snowdrifts down somewhat.
